Thanks to the favourable weather, the 2023/2024 ski season also comes to Lúčanská Malá Fatra. You don’t have to travel far to experience quality skiing on natural snow and endless country views. Enjoy the winter atmosphere right in the heart of Slovakia, at the Martinské Hole Mts.
Winter Park Martinky, a ski resort that breathes a genuine winter atmosphere and more than a century of history, is located at an altitude of 1,150 to 1,456 m above sea level with a unique view of the Turiec Basin and the surrounding mountains.
Snow and dwarf mountain pines in this area are always reminiscent of a true winter fairy tale. This makes the environment and nature at the Martinské Hole Mts. a guarantee of great experiences during skiing on twelve slopes or skialpinism along marked hiking trails.
Despite the abundance of snow, the resort also has an artificial snowmaking infrastructure. Thanks to the mix of natural and technical snow, a season in the Martinské Hole Mts. is sure to last up to 125 snowy days a year. Winter Park Martinky has six transport facilities, including a six-seater, which offers a possibility to enjoy views of both Lúčanská and Krivánska Mala Fatra.
Opening of the ski season 2023/2024
At the Martinské Hole Mts., the ski season is open from December 9, 2023. After the opening weekend, the Winter Park Martinky resort plans to reopen over the weekend (16 -17 December 2023) and subsequently announce operating days according to weather conditions. Season tickets and ski passes are available at a discounted price in the ski resort’s e-shop: https://eshop.martinky.com/
Ski courses and teambuilding
Young skiers will be delighted by the ski school led by experienced FATRA SKI instructors throughout the whole season. The environment at the Martinské Hole Mts. is perfect for school courses – teaching at the Martinské Hole Mts. is based on proven Austrian methodology. Instructors use a safe and well-groomed children’s slope and various aids that will not only simplify the teaching process, but also make it faster and more pleasant. The basis for teaching children is their enjoyment of skiing, not to let them get bored.
Courses and individual skiing and snowboarding lessons are also available for adults, including ski service or renting the necessary equipment. A teambuilding programme is prepared for groups and work teams. You can enjoy skialpinism and snowshoeing tours during the day or at night with headlamps. For the more demanding, an avalanche course is available under the supervision of international UIMLA mountain guides.
Environment made for walks
Winter hiking and skialpinism at the Martinské Hole Mts. offer both physical activity and spiritual enrichment. At the summit you will see the entire Turiec region, even the distant tips of the High Tatras. Clearly designated routes along with a description of the route and a map can be found on the resort’s website.
If you are a fan of adrenaline sports, you can choose the passage through the winter HZS Ferrata. The stream and iron ropes disappear under the snow and ice from December to March. To overcome them, you will need climbing irons and an ice axe. Experience Ferrata equipment even in winter and overcome snowy and icy walls or waterfalls in the canyon of the Pivovarský Potok. We can recommend you the services of a professional guide.
Attractive programme and family Sundays
During the winter season, the Winter Park Martinky resort also runs a regular programme on the slope in the Après-ski bar. Families with children can look forward to activities with animators and the mascot of the squirrel Marta, which take place during the operation of the ski resort every Sunday from 11 AM to 02 PM. A toboggan slope next to the children’s ski lift is also regularly maintained and available free of charge.
Refreshment right on the slope
Skiers and hikers can enjoy a wide range of refreshments in the heart of the ski resort. In addition to the traditional morning and lunch menu, the Nová Ponorka restaurant provides evening meals at the Martinské Hole Mts. Snacks right on the slope are replenished by the Snack Bar Marta along with the popular Après-ski bar.
