We continue a rich tradition

Winter Park Resort follows a rich tradition of skiing on Martinske hole mts. which has lasted for a whole century. Let´s see the most important historical milestones:

Halaskova cottage construction and reconstruction
1933
Flochov cottage construction
1939
beginning of organized skiing associated with the establishment of the Club of Slovak tourists and skiers in Martin
1944
all objects burnt down by the Nazis
1944
Janko Novák Memorial, one of the oldest alpine skiing competitions in Slovakia, is beginning to be organized
1949
new cottage construction

the merged TJ Strojarne Martin is starting to take care of organized skiing
1957
first ski lift construction
1969
homogenisation of ski track according to FIS standards starts
1974
chairlift construction
1974
total length of the ski slopes reaches up to 8,000 meters
1988
the capacity of transported persons reaches up to 1,500 persons per hour
1989
modernization of tracks and accommodation capacities, transformation into a European level modern resort

Number of ski races have taken place at Martinske hole mts. so far, for example the championships of the Czechoslovak Republic, the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, and the Slovak Republic took place here. Martinske hole mts. skiers represented Slovakia at the most significant sports events – the Olympic and Paralympic games, the World Championships, World cup and other events.
