During the last weekend of May, we opened the summer season with tourists at Martinské hole. Together with the Slovak Tourists Club and readers of the magazine Krásy Slovenska, we launched a new book, Koruna Turca (The Crown of the Turiec), whose author, Adam Frkáň, together with Jakub Grajciar, presented the idea of creating a comprehensive story of a tourist route along the ridge of Malá and Veľká Fatra, approximately 200 kilometers long and with an elevation gain of more than 10,000 meters.
The atmosphere of the event was provided by the accordion players Chládekovci and members of the SKD Martin with a program of songs by Karol Duchoň “Zem památá”. The youngest visitors were delighted by the outdoor workshop “Summer with squirrels” led by forest educator Erik Hirschner and there were also local scouts – the 55th Lišiak Vrútky. The opening of the summer season at Martinské hole took place in cooperation with the Regional Tourism Organization Turiec and with the financial support of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Slovak Republic.
Enjoy the summer at Martinské hole
During the summer, Martinské hole hosts several events, sports activities, competitions, and in addition to refreshments, the Nová Ponorka restaurant also has a souvenir shop. Martinské hole has everything you need for active relaxation – there are dozens of hiking trails, cycling routes, and the HZS Via Ferrata, which is open during the summer season from June 1 to September 15.
Ferrata set and mountain scooter rental
The HZS via ferrata in Lúčanská Mala Fatra, passing through the Pivovarský potok canyon, is one-way and at a certain point branches into an easier (B) and more difficult (C) ascent variant. Both variants join again at the end of the route. The ferrata presents steep rocks, waterfalls, the highest of which is up to 30 meters high, but also resting places where visitors have the opportunity to regain lost strength while enjoying beautiful views. The HZS recommends using adequate ferrata equipment, a helmet, a seat harness, and a fall absorber (the so-called ferrata set) for movement on the ferrata, which you can reserve in our online store.
After your experience on the via ferrata or relaxation at Martinské hole, you will return to the parking lot in the Martin – Stráne district (at the final public transport stop) by a 7.3 km long descent with an elevation gain of 730 m on the KOSTKA MONSTER MAX or KOSTKA MONSTER RAPTOR off-road scooters, for which you will receive instructions from trained staff before the ride.
